​Problem

A Hasbro brand wanted to incorporate a specialized motor into an upcoming project. They needed it to meet system requirements while maintaining their allocated production cost.

Approach

• Sourced motors from wholesale listings to determine BOM cost

• Found retail equivalents to use for in-house testing

• Tested for consistency and accuracy to specifications

• Rewired an existing product with each set of test motors

• Ran load tests on each motor set using a custom-built test rig

Results

The team selected one of the motors I sourced in the prototype bill of materials. They incorporated it into future prototype builds for this project.
